I’ve heard of this being done but I’ve never seen the photos or videos till now. I’m in utter shock at how these poor animals are tortured and killed. This is obviously an illegal trade as these venders have no licence or paperwork from vets and meat inspectors. America lived in far better times than the Asians did. Poor, nutrient deprived, poor soil, no land forced these people to do the unthinkable: Eat their pets. When you are absolutely starving and have no land to grow your crops on (Due to landlords and kings taking your crops as tax), these people turned to the absolute worst possible case. You can not judge these people for doing that. You can even hear stories of people eating each other in desperate times. ( The airplane crash somewhere in the swish mountains that led a doctor to eat his own fellow travelers alive. )

Know this; Even in America dogs and cats get tortured even in the same ways, if not worse than that of these Asian countries. The meat we eat? Packed so tight into cages these animals can’t move; constantly fed growth drugs to keep them big; baby after baby, so much the females get weak and die; wastes piled high in their cages; stench of rotting meat because of the unsanitary conditions, animals all over are abused whether we believe it or not.
True, animals are abused world over, but we can’t really compare that with the plane crash in the Andes 1972. They had nothing to eat, while these people who torture and boil these cats and dogs DO have other sources of food. Their belief for the way they kill these animals has to do with their belief of their Chinese/Korean/ other Asian that there are health benefit if they torture animals certain ways. And the way they skin them alive.
So there are NO reason now for them to actually eat these animals at all and especially not their way of killing them as brutal as possible.

Anyway my gap year memories of the Philippines were not marred with dogs being eaten or boiled. I saw lots of poor people but they were always smiling, they love foreigners, were polite and they were god fearing. I wished I could also help or do more for animals and poor people alike. I plan to do more tavelling and help. Thats better than petty squabbles. Spreading Hate is not rewarding or productive so please stop! Deal with facts. Juan I enjoyed my holiday there in the Philippines. Although i saw poverty I did not see dogs being boiled alive or served on the menu in restaurants but in Vietnam and China they are. Travelling broadens the mind thats why i did it during my gap year. I would not put Philippines as priority in tackling animal cruelty, not at all but Iam not surprised China is top because even their records of human rights are appalling. 1st of all, you are not being honest, contrary to what you say, there are plenty of restaurants in Philippines that serve dog and cat meat. Hopefully THAT will change some day and I have every right to disagree with that behavior. I have seen plenty of photos from Philippines(2013, 2014) and thanks a million to working organizations that save dogs from that plight. The Philippines is in the above mentioned(as well as Korea and Thailand) for a reason. But I understand now!…it is ok to serve dog in your restaurants(and 2014 just read many Philippines see nothing wrong with it and don’t understand why anyone from Philippines gets angry when referred to that ‘stigma’) but there again you don’t boil them alive. Well animals in the west are experimented but they are away from the public view, just like those very very few sadistic people in the Philippines who might snatch to kill a dog for food and even then they do not torture or boil them alive. The pictures of dogs being boiled and scorched alive were taken in CHINA not in the Philippines. Without having to repeat myself as it would be an insult to average intelligence, you cannot see sadistic people butchering or selling dogs or cats openly in markets in the Philippines like you would see in other countries in this region. There is no evidence that you will ever find that people are torturing, burning or selling dogs openly in the Philippines. However, like any other countries there will always be people who will act against the law. People kill and take drugs covertly in every country. With this example the gravity and difference between the practices of the two nations are clear cut. This is my point exactly that you are trying to divert attention from the real major problem which everyone with good sense know it’s not Philippines but CHINA. Anyone with sense will not worry too much about a cut in their finger but will seek immediate medical attention for a ruptured artery. Other countries in the world, West and the Philippines included are like the cut in the finger – its not as big, it will heal, not rampant and not life threatening. The ruptured artery is definitely more deadly. If you are looking for bad things about any country you will always find something. As I said many times no country is perfect. I supposed Juan you are right every country is to a lesser degree guilty of animal cruelty but we must know when it is widespread and when it really is a big problem. In my gap year I travelled to the far east and you are right I did not see dogs being boiled alive in the Philippines the same way I saw them in China and Vietnam. However thats not to say no dogs there are being killed for food. It once again pardon the pun boils down to the extent

I am glad that you have done your research and acknowledged the fact that there is indeed a law in the Philippines (Republic Act 8485 Animal Welfare Act) that protect, promote the welfare of animals and prohibits torture and killing of pets for food industry/restaurants. While many of the countries in the same region still have not even contemplated considering to pass this type of law in their own parliament/senates, the Republic Act 8485 has been in placed since May 25, 2007. I suppose since the Philippines is not a communist but a democratic country the passing of this law is slightly easier particularly because Filipinos do not believe that torture of animals will enhance the taste of the meat or improve one’s virility. These beliefs came from other South East Asian Countries and it is very very dangerous to tar everyone in the region with the same sensationalist brush! Having this law in the Philippines means you will never find a restaurant selling dogs or cats meat nor will you see in wet markets open trading of pets for food consumption! Again tarring everyone with a sensationalist brush is unfair and ignorant. It will be like accusing you of being a criminal just because your neighbour is one. I am not saying that Philippines is perfect because there is no country in this world that is perfect and even with a law in placed there will always be sadistic people anywhere in the world who would commit these offences. There are laws against killing people and yet many are murdered in every countries all over the world. However, because of the law there are consequences to the action, without the law there is no consequence. The law in the Philippines to protect animals contrary to your remark is not being ignored. On television and newspapers you will see these sadistic and stupid people getting what they deserve, just like you see thieves and murderers being handed severe penalties like reclusion perpetua (life imprisonment) because death penalty has been abolished. Although the punishment for harming animals may not be as severe as it carries two years prison sentence and a heavy fine, the condition inside the jail is harrowing and having a criminal record will last a lifetime and bar you from any mainstream employment. One region doesn’t mean one culture or one government, or one belief or one tradition. While French people may look like the Germans, or English and Spanish they have different and very distinct culture, language, politics, cuisine, economics and identities. Do not tar with one sensationalist brush because it doesn’t help the cause but rather confuse it. Animal cruelty is wrong but let’s deal with facts and know where the real problem is.
I have posted below just one of many news in the Philippines about people who harm animals, including this 78 year old lady.

Feliciano’s relatives tearfully begged for understanding, saying their grandmother would not be able to stand the rigors of jail. Feliciano said she is a good woman and had done the act in an outburst; she insisted she didn’t mean to kill the dog.
Feliciano could face charges of violating the Animal Welfare Act, which carries a jail term.
It is a cruel world. There has always been abuse on mankind, abuse of animals, abuse of our planet, and there was a time we never saw such horrors as this, but they were there. We connect now, we battle abuse in every corner as we loathe inhumane treatment. It does makes sense that we are capable of such nightmares because humanity…consumes everything(a test of our existence). If your eyes, your heart and mind say it’s wrong, then scream and speak out against wrong. Humanity is changing, although not fast enough, as ignorance, cruelty, a people void of compassion, still exists. We must all strive to understand, feel and show respect to all in this world, bring atrocities to light, and fight for the defenseless in any possible way. It is at a snail’s pace, but more and more people will stand up, and demand laws, … and WILL change things. Do not ever be silent…and remember…there is strength in numbers.. to end acts of inhumane treatment of animals wherever we find it.
There seems to be a lot of comparisons of dogs and cats and cows and pigs etc. There’s a decent way to raise animals for food and maybe some day, we’ll find a need not to eat animals whether for health reasons or morals. Regardless, animal cruelty laws should be in place, enforced, and guarded to the best of our ability in every responsible country. Dogs and cats have adapted through evolution to bond w/and trust humans. Many animals are captured because of this trust. It’s a responsibility of mankind to look after them. I truly object to cruel treatment of animals before slaughter. There are plenty of photos and videos of torture, pain, lack of empathy and no concern for these animals. Perpetrators of these terrible acts, whether a people or a company will do what they will until better laws are enforced. Prolonged, extreme, unnecessary suffering, pain is pain. Animals have a complex nervous system and suffer greatly. It is not hypocritical to want to change sadistic slaughter methods……of any animal. As for the Philippine, the Philippine government has Laws in place that need to be enforced rather than ignored. The dog meat trade is outlawed in the Philippines but definitely still exists as of 2014.
Correction to the report. You can not go to the Philippines and see people selling cat or dog meat in the market nor can you go to restaurants there and order cat or dog meat like you freely can in other far eastern countries! These pets are in fact protected by the law there Republic Act 8485 Animal Welfare Act. The majority do not eat dogs or cats just like the majority in any countries do not take illicit drugs like cocaine or heroin. However, in every country there are always drug addicts and drug pushers and when they are caught they are suitably punished. I do hope the government of the other south east asian nations place a ban and a law against torturing and eating defenceless household pets.

People in the West would not get away with boiling animals to death. Even if far from perfect we are ethically superior. The people who do this to other living things are satanic, evil and monsters. They are short of a dose of their own treatment. That would quickly make them realise what they were actually doing. What kind of Government sits back and allows people to do this. The West must stay on top.
Although it’s been mentioned earlier in the thread, these animals are not necessarily seen as domestic animals in all societies. They are still animals, but the degree of domesticity should not come into it; either it’s acceptable behaviour or not.
I don’t think it’s particularly acceptable behaviour, but I also think that signing a petition and highlighting differences all of the time does little other than smack of cultural imperialism. Our way is THE way. China has very different values to the West, and there should be an element of exchange there, where both sides might improve. However, we are stuck in our way of thinking that almost everything we do is the correct way. It’s wrong, for sure, and it would be great if the government stopped it, because in general animal cruelty is clearly not good, just when it boils down (had to get that pun in) to consent. That said, I’m sure all the western abattoirs doing get consent from the chickens, lambs, cows, pigs etc, as cited a few times above, before they kill them.
Anyway – in short, it’s bad, it shouldn’t happen, but I’m not convinced it’s entirely right to encourage it to stop without considering its cultural origins (whatever they are) and maybe addressing them in a slightly more subtle way than telling others they are brutal torturers who should stop. I just feel like that might antagonise those who already feel a sense of difference, and not go far to solving the problem, but reinforce the attitude that the west is continually seeking to meddle in the affairs of everyone else.
The human race depicts all that is wrong with the world. This is immoral and truly sickening! In the UK and much like many other parts of the world, dogs and cats especially, are like family members. In European society they are cherished and many of us hold a strong emotional attachment towards these animals. What sort of society endorses this sort of behaviour? Who are these ‘beings’ and what gives them the right to act in such evil, sadistic manners! I’d LOVE to see how these ‘beings’ (because they really cannot be titled humans or even people!) would feel if they were cooked ALIVE in a pan of boiling water! I am a vegetarian and have been all of my life (since a child) the thought of cooking any animal alive makes me want to vomit! At least behave in an ethical manner, what were these ‘beings’ brought up like! Where is there respect for life and where are their morals! It is beyond disbelief! Is it not enough that pigs, cattle, sheep and the likes are slaughtered every single day to feed the human race – why does this not suffice for these monsters! If the human race needs to eat meat, then at least give the animal the damn respect it deserves and kill it in a humane, ethical manner! Leave domestic animals alone, these images will haunt me for the rest of my life – my ethical nature does not wish harm on many people but those that behave in this manner deserve to receive the same treatment as these poor animals – someone needs to intervene and do something drastic to stop this (before I resort to unethical behaviour!)

I love dogs and cats and it pains me greatly to see this but let’s not be hypocrites. Darkcrowe is right. In the US we use completely inhumane practices when it comes to cows, pigs and chickens (the same if not worse than what they do in China). Difference is, Westerners are so removed from where their food comes from, they don’t think about how that beef, pork or chicken was processed into those ever so neat packets we buy at the grocery store. Cooking anything alive is wrong. There should be more humane practices for killing them before slaughter. I really agree with your latter statement! I am a Westerner and live in the UK however I do not eat meat and never have. I agree that our society will be sickened by this but at the same time will go out and buy pork, beef and lamb for their Sunday roasts tomorrow!

America does not do the same to cattle – an animal dies in minutes from an arterial bleed and therefore minimal suffering is inflicted – the cattle are stunned before cutting their artery and bleeding them out

I’ve heard of this being done but I’ve never seen the photos or videos till now. I’m in utter shock at how these poor animals are tortured and killed. This is obviously an illegal trade as these venders have no licence or paperwork from vets and meat inspectors. My hope is these things contract an illness from the meat they consume and die a horrible painful lingering death, that’s all they deserve. Stop this now!!! They are eventually going to be stopped by the world, and it may be bloody and I’d love to be apart of it.

Please don’t think me evil but I would just like to let the point across. The reason why so many Asian countries practice this “barbaric” deed is because of tradition. America lived in far better times than the Asians did. Poor, nutrient deprived, poor soil, no land forced these people to do the unthinkable: Eat their pets. When you are absolutely starving and have no land to grow your crops on (Due to landlords and kings taking your crops as tax), these people turned to the absolute worst possible case. You can not judge these people for doing that. You can even hear stories of people eating each other in desperate times. ( The airplane crash somewhere in the swish mountains that led a doctor to eat his own fellow travelers alive. )
YES. It is wrong that they should still be continuing this practice. Yes, it is wrong that they do it that way, but understand that these practices do not come from pure evil roots. Know this; Even in America dogs and cats get tortured even in the same ways, if not worse than that of these Asian countries. The meat we eat? Packed so tight into cages these animals can’t move; constantly fed growth drugs to keep them big; baby after baby, so much the females get weak and die; wastes piled high in their cages; stench of rotting meat because of the unsanitary conditions, animals all over are abused whether we believe it or not.

True, animals are abused world over, but we can’t really compare that with the plane crash in the Andes 1972. They had nothing to eat, while these people who torture and boil these cats and dogs DO have other sources of food. Their belief for the way they kill these animals has to do with their belief of their Chinese/Korean/ other Asian that there are health benefit if they torture animals certain ways. And the way they skin them alive.
So there are NO reason now for them to actually eat these animals at all and especially not their way of killing them as brutal as possible.
And as you say in America and all over the world slaughterhouses are absolutely disgusting and the way they breed, rip calves from dairy cows. Everything is for profit and none of those raising these animals dont care about the animals they breed and kill. But that is where we, the people have to raise our voices and tell these farmers what we think about it..

In fairness they do not eat dogs in the Philippines traditionally like they do in China and Vietnam. I had a horrible image still in my memory of animal cruelty i saw in Vietnam and China. I plan to do more tavelling and help. Thats better than petty squabbles. Spreading Hate is not rewarding or productive so please stop! Deal with facts. Juan I enjoyed my holiday there in the Philippines. Although i saw poverty I did not see dogs being boiled alive or served on the menu in restaurants but in Vietnam and China they are. Travelling broadens the mind thats why i did it during my gap year. I would not put Philippines as priority in tackling animal cruelty, not at all but Iam not surprised China is top because even their records of human rights are appalling. What chance do poor dogs and cats have against a communist government and thousands of years tradition to eat dogs and cats and use them for alternative medicine?

The people I was referring to who are civilized are the ones in the West who do not pressume nor ask if I eat dogs because most if the people here are educated and not ignorant! As Cheryl who has been to the Philippines she did not see people eating dogs there like she saw people selking and boiling them alive in China and Vietnam. If you r thick you cant comprehend the main points while others can then its pointless as you never will. No cure for stupidity. The dogs in china probably have a chance albeit tiny of being rescued than a dumb person finally grasping the main concept. 1st of all, you are not being honest, contrary to what you say, there are plenty of restaurants in Philippines that serve dog and cat meat. Hopefully THAT will change some day and I have every right to disagree with that behavior. I have seen plenty of photos from Philippines(2013, 2014) and thanks a million to working organizations that save dogs from that plight. The Philippines is in the above mentioned(as well as Korea and Thailand) for a reason. But I understand now!…it is ok to serve dog in your restaurants(and 2014 just read many Philippines see nothing wrong with it and don’t understand why anyone from Philippines gets angry when referred to that ‘stigma’) but there again you don’t boil them alive. I understand you perfectly. It’s just not out in PUBLIC like China obviously does…don’t worry we are not ignorant or blind because there is still plenty of evidence of dog trade. I hate animal cruelty and I am appalled to see how it could be a normal scene to see people roast a puppy alive in a public market. Well animals in the west are experimented but they are away from the public view, just like those very very few sadistic people in the Philippines who might snatch to kill a dog for food and even then they do not torture or boil them alive. But these things happen covertly, the difference is – the experimentation in the West is State sanctioned or legal and the snatching in the Philippines is illegal. However, if they are seen doing this in public there is no doubt, there will be an outrage- however in China, it is in public view and yet there is NO outrage! Now, That is outrageous!

I understand that the majority of Philippines do not eat dog meat and I am glad that there are laws in place. Yes, China really needs to get on board and understand the unthinkable cruelty of which they have neither compassion nor care, and why would they give a shit, when they see heinous cruelty of animals in other countries? The pictures of dogs being boiled and scorched alive were taken in CHINA not in the Philippines. Without having to repeat myself as it would be an insult to average intelligence, you cannot see sadistic people butchering or selling dogs or cats openly in markets in the Philippines like you would see in other countries in this region. There is no evidence that you will ever find that people are torturing, burning or selling dogs openly in the Philippines. However, like any other countries there will always be people who will act against the law. People kill and take drugs covertly in every country. However, at least there is a law in the Philippines against animal cruelty where as in China there is absolutely NOTHING. We probably really cant get rid of it completely but education and raising awareness will help. I am glad that you have done your research and acknowledged the fact that there is indeed a law in the Philippines (Republic Act 8485 Animal Welfare Act) that protect, promote the welfare of animals and prohibits torture and killing of pets for food industry/restaurants. While many of the countries in the same region still have not even contemplated considering to pass this type of law in their own parliament/senates, the Republic Act 8485 has been in placed since May 25, 2007. I suppose since the Philippines is not a communist but a democratic country the passing of this law is slightly easier particularly because Filipinos do not believe that torture of animals will enhance the taste of the meat or improve one’s virility. These beliefs came from other South East Asian Countries and it is very very dangerous to tar everyone in the region with the same sensationalist brush! Having this law in the Philippines means you will never find a restaurant selling dogs or cats meat nor will you see in wet markets open trading of pets for food consumption! Again tarring everyone with a sensationalist brush is unfair and ignorant. It will be like accusing you of being a criminal just because your neighbour is one. I am not saying that Philippines is perfect because there is no country in this world that is perfect and even with a law in placed there will always be sadistic people anywhere in the world who would commit these offences. There are laws against killing people and yet many are murdered in every countries all over the world. However, because of the law there are consequences to the action, without the law there is no consequence. The law in the Philippines to protect animals contrary to your remark is not being ignored. On television and newspapers you will see these sadistic and stupid people getting what they deserve, just like you see thieves and murderers being handed severe penalties like reclusion perpetua (life imprisonment) because death penalty has been abolished. Although the punishment for harming animals may not be as severe as it carries two years prison sentence and a heavy fine, the condition inside the jail is harrowing and having a criminal record will last a lifetime and bar you from any mainstream employment. One region doesn’t mean one culture or one government, or one belief or one tradition. While French people may look like the Germans, or English and Spanish they have different and very distinct culture, language, politics, cuisine, economics and identities. Do not tar with one sensationalist brush because it doesn’t help the cause but rather confuse it. Animal cruelty is wrong but let’s deal with facts and know where the real problem is.
I have posted below just one of many news in the Philippines about people who harm animals, including this 78 year old lady.
It is a far cry from the open selling, torturing and butchering of dogs and cats you see in the picture. Without having to repeat myself I am not saying it is perfect because there will always be sadistic people anywhere including the west who will harm animals that’s why we need the law in placed and enforced.
MANILA, Philippines – Barangay officials in Pasay City are mediating between two families in a heart-wrenching dilemma: whether or not to a 78-year-old grandmother should face criminal charges for dousing hot water on a neighbor’s dog, causing it to die from serious injuries.
In a follow-up meeting, the village officials told the family of Lola Lucila Feliciano to face the owners of the ill-starred dog Echo, who had treated the dog like part of the family.
Feliciano’s relatives tearfully begged for understanding, saying their grandmother would not be able to stand the rigors of jail. Feliciano said she is a good woman and had done the act in an outburst; she insisted she didn’t mean to kill the dog.
Feliciano could face charges of violating the Animal Welfare Act, which carries a jail term.

It is a cruel world. There has always been abuse on mankind, abuse of animals, abuse of our planet, and there was a time we never saw such horrors as this, but they were there. We connect now, we battle abuse in every corner as we loathe inhumane treatment. It does makes sense that we are capable of such nightmares because humanity…consumes everything(a test of our existence). If your eyes, your heart and mind say it’s wrong, then scream and speak out against wrong. Humanity is changing, although not fast enough, as ignorance, cruelty, a people void of compassion, still exists. We must all strive to understand, feel and show respect to all in this world, bring atrocities to light, and fight for the defenseless in any possible way. It is at a snail’s pace, but more and more people will stand up, and demand laws, … and WILL change things. Do not ever be silent…and remember…there is strength in numbers.. to end acts of inhumane treatment of animals wherever we find it.

There seems to be a lot of comparisons of dogs and cats and cows and pigs etc. There’s a decent way to raise animals for food and maybe some day, we’ll find a need not to eat animals whether for health reasons or morals. Regardless, animal cruelty laws should be in place, enforced, and guarded to the best of our ability in every responsible country. Dogs and cats have adapted through evolution to bond w/and trust humans. Many animals are captured because of this trust. It’s a responsibility of mankind to look after them. I truly object to cruel treatment of animals before slaughter. There are plenty of photos and videos of torture, pain, lack of empathy and no concern for these animals. Perpetrators of these terrible acts, whether a people or a company will do what they will until better laws are enforced. Prolonged, extreme, unnecessary suffering, pain is pain. Animals have a complex nervous system and suffer greatly. It is not hypocritical to want to change sadistic slaughter methods……of any animal. As for the Philippine, the Philippine government has Laws in place that need to be enforced rather than ignored. The dog meat trade is outlawed in the Philippines but definitely still exists as of 2014.

Correction to the report. You can not go to the Philippines and see people selling cat or dog meat in the market nor can you go to restaurants there and order cat or dog meat like you freely can in other far eastern countries! These pets are in fact protected by the law there Republic Act 8485 Animal Welfare Act. The majority do not eat dogs or cats just like the majority in any countries do not take illicit drugs like cocaine or heroin. However, in every country there are always drug addicts and drug pushers and when they are caught they are suitably punished. I do hope the government of the other south east asian nations place a ban and a law against torturing and eating defenceless household pets.

People in the West would not get away with boiling animals to death. Even if far from perfect we are ethically superior. The people who do this to other living things are satanic, evil and monsters. They are short of a dose of their own treatment. That would quickly make them realise what they were actually doing. What kind of Government sits back and allows people to do this. The West must stay on top.

Although it’s been mentioned earlier in the thread, these animals are not necessarily seen as domestic animals in all societies. They are still animals, but the degree of domesticity should not come into it; either it’s acceptable behaviour or not.
I don’t think it’s particularly acceptable behaviour, but I also think that signing a petition and highlighting differences all of the time does little other than smack of cultural imperialism. Our way is THE way. China has very different values to the West, and there should be an element of exchange there, where both sides might improve. However, we are stuck in our way of thinking that almost everything we do is the correct way. It’s wrong, for sure, and it would be great if the government stopped it, because in general animal cruelty is clearly not good, just when it boils down (had to get that pun in) to consent. That said, I’m sure all the western abattoirs doing get consent from the chickens, lambs, cows, pigs etc, as cited a few times above, before they kill them.
Anyway – in short, it’s bad, it shouldn’t happen, but I’m not convinced it’s entirely right to encourage it to stop without considering its cultural origins (whatever they are) and maybe addressing them in a slightly more subtle way than telling others they are brutal torturers who should stop. I just feel like that might antagonise those who already feel a sense of difference, and not go far to solving the problem, but reinforce the attitude that the west is continually seeking to meddle in the affairs of everyone else.

The human race depicts all that is wrong with the world. This is immoral and truly sickening! In the UK and much like many other parts of the world, dogs and cats especially, are like family members. In European society they are cherished and many of us hold a strong emotional attachment towards these animals. What sort of society endorses this sort of behaviour? Who are these ‘beings’ and what gives them the right to act in such evil, sadistic manners! I’d LOVE to see how these ‘beings’ (because they really cannot be titled humans or even people!) would feel if they were cooked ALIVE in a pan of boiling water! I am a vegetarian and have been all of my life (since a child) the thought of cooking any animal alive makes me want to vomit! At least behave in an ethical manner, what were these ‘beings’ brought up like! Where is there respect for life and where are their morals! It is beyond disbelief! Is it not enough that pigs, cattle, sheep and the likes are slaughtered every single day to feed the human race – why does this not suffice for these monsters! If the human race needs to eat meat, then at least give the animal the damn respect it deserves and kill it in a humane, ethical manner! Leave domestic animals alone, these images will haunt me for the rest of my life – my ethical nature does not wish harm on many people but those that behave in this manner deserve to receive the same treatment as these poor animals – someone needs to intervene and do something drastic to stop this (before I resort to unethical behaviour!)

I love dogs and cats and it pains me greatly to see this but let’s not be hypocrites. Darkcrowe is right. In the US we use completely inhumane practices when it comes to cows, pigs and chickens (the same if not worse than what they do in China). Difference is, Westerners are so removed from where their food comes from, they don’t think about how that beef, pork or chicken was processed into those ever so neat packets we buy at the grocery store. Cooking anything alive is wrong. There should be more humane practices for killing them before slaughter. At the same time raising them in pens and cages and force feeding them genetically engineered food to make them larger is also wrong. Let’s start there shall we? Let’s watch some documentaries like Food Inc before we making hateful statements about another race. Hate the act. Not the people or the culture.

I dont make hateful statement about another race. What I do is tell what is going on and that I think it’s very wrong in how they do it. The slaughter in the west is absolutely horrific to put it mildly, have seen too many videos about how ”we” treat our cows, pigs and so on. I hate the act both how they slaughter in the whole world and China, no animal should suffer the way they do, or live with the fear and pain as too many animal does. Even the milk are taken from our cows in disgusting ways. I want the change in the whole world,of course just not China. I really agree with your latter statement! I am a Westerner and live in the UK however I do not eat meat and never have. I agree that our society will be sickened by this but at the same time will go out and buy pork, beef and lamb for their Sunday roasts tomorrow!

That is true too, but we can care about more animals than just those in the countries we live in. I try to do my part both where I live now and what’s happening in other countries so I think that criticizing others is a right we have no matter if it comes to people or animal rights.

This may not be a popular comment, but in America we eat cow, and pig and duck, etc. We slaughter them while their alive and and eat them for sustenance. They are doing the same thing. In America we tamed dogs and cats and see them as pets and companions. This is a whole other culture where they don’t. And you are right. In many countries dogs and cats are our pets, while in others not. But what I hate and had to bring up is this brutal slaughter and how they do it. Then if it is a dog, cat, cow, duck or pig it doesn’t matter, you don’t treat animals like this, don’t prolong their deaths or cause them this suffering..

America does not do the same to cattle – an animal dies in minutes from an arterial bleed and therefore minimal suffering is inflicted – the cattle are stunned before cutting their artery and bleeding them out

So here’s an idea, “let me go to the market place an get some food. And or if you can’t, then steal some.
