The Dalai Lama will visit DC in July to perform Buddhism’s largest ritual open to the public, the Kalachakra. The 11-day event, which includes prayers and teachings, culminates with the creation of giant sand mandala at the Verizon Centre. Tickets are available, but they’re not cheap. About $506 for the entire event, although cheaper single day and multi-day passes are available also. Bonus: the Dalai Lama will celebrate his 76th birthday during the event.

However, The Kalachakra for World Peace is a multi-faceted, rich, and profoundly meaningful event,
the largest Buddhist ritual open to the public given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness has offered the Kalachakra to large groups of people around the world.
